On Friday 18 March 2022 Thx.agency organised the fifth edition of the Belgian Travel Blog Awards. With this award show, we honour the best Belgian travel bloggers and influencers for the travel content they created in the last year. After previous award shows in Brussels, Ghent and Mechelen, we now organised the event in Wallonia for the first time, more specifically in Namur. The show was hosted by presenter Ben Roelants, who also provided a special report on Evenaar TV. This year, our location partners were Explore Meuse and Visit Namur. They offered the nominees an overnight stay and an additional programme on Saturday. Curious about the winners and the broadcast on Evenaar TV? On y va!
Along Came an Elephant wins two awards
The jury, this year consisting of Toni De Coninck (the content crew), Marth Van Roey (TravelBase), Annelien Alaerts (LolaLiza) and Morgane Vander Linden (Wallonia-Belgium Tourism), was asked to determine the nominees and winners from the more than 200 entries. The travel blog Along Came An Elephant took home two trophies and was again the most successful travel blog of the year. Marlo and Kristof won in the categories Best Culinary/Cultural and Best Lifestyle Travel Story. For the Audience Choice Award, the general public could cast their votes and World Wanderista was the big favourite. The full list of winners can be found below.
Nominees and winners discovering Namur
Thanks to location partners Explore Meuse and Visit Namur, the nominees of the Belgian Travel Blog Awards were offered a second surprise on Saturday: a special day trip in Namur and its surroundings. The bloggers could choose from a wide range of possibilities: from a vespa tour through Namur or a gastronomic roadtrip with a 2PK to packrafting in Dinant. Ben Roelants joined them and made this fine report on the special #BTBA22 weekend:

The brilliant list of winners was created thanks to the professional jury who, with their various expertises, were each able to judge from their own perspective. This edition, Thx.agency enlisted the professional help of Toni De Coninck, Marth Van Roey, Annelien Alaerts and Morgane Vander Linden. As founding editor of the online travel magazine June. and the content crew, Toni Deconinck focused on writing quality. Moreover, he was a member of the jury for the second year in a row, so he could also build on his previous experience. Marth Van Roey is content marketer at TravelBase and looked at the cases from the point of view of a fast-growing travel company. Morgane Vander Linden could count on her years of experience as Press Assistant at Wallonia-Belgium Tourism to judge from the perspective of the destination, while Annelien Alaerts as Marketing Manager at LolaLiza looked at travel content from a completely different perspective.
Jo Thuys, Managing Partner of the organising marketing agency Thx.agency looks back with satisfaction:
"For this special fifth edition we crossed the language border to the beautiful Namur for the first time. With more than 200 entries once again, we can only be very satisfied and conclude that the Belgian Travel Blog Awards are still gaining in importance every year. And this after two covid years, in which the number of travel blogs did not particularly grow, is a real boost. Unfortunately, we are now facing another tragedy on the edge of Europe. That is why we thought it was important to show our support and organise a fundraising action for the refugee centre in Scherpenheuvel, which currently houses about 60 Ukrainian refugees. We hope that one day we will be able to present an award for a beautiful travel story about Ukraine."
